Thadian Pillai’s interest lies in the individual and collective experience of space and time in light. This manifests in projects ranging from site-specific installation, sculpture and the designed landscape, to intimate studio works. The projects engage with natural phenomena, exploring landscape as a time-based medium. They variously reference contemporary landscape theory and the life and physical sciences, but share in common a concern with situation, place and place-making.
Pioneering the environment, landscape and garden as agents of individual and cultural transformation, the projects seek to enrich our experience of the world. Through the creation of sensuously immersive spatial experiences, they explore ways of understanding, and living as part of a boundless, impermanent, total Nature.
